The Gaming & Game Studies Community of Practice held its first meeting of the 2026 Fall semester. This first meeting was a set of lightning round presentations by Lehigh faculty and PhD candidates to discuss how they utilize games in their research.

  • Dr. Lorenzo Servitje - Discussed using games in his research on bacteria antibiotic resistance.
  • Jiayan Zhu - Showcased her project AI for Kids, using games to help kids 10-16 understand and think with AI rather than just accepting its output.
  • Olivia Mathers - Highlighted how she is researching the representation of games in medieval literature.
  • Dr. Mike Spear - Presented on the creative inquiry project he mentored Leveling Up: Life at Lehigh.

Following the short presentations we held a panel Q&A where the audience asked questions on how they came to using games in their areas of research, and potential future iterations. The Gaming & Game Studies Community of Practice typically hosts two meetings each semester and has an active mailing list, if you are interested in joining visit the link on the right side of this page to learn more!
