Title: Using AI to augment writing and critical thinking
College/Department: International Center for Academic and Professional English, Office of International Affairs
Student Enrollment: 15
Course: WRT 003 Composition and Literature I for Multilingual Writers
Proposal: My aim is to teach students effective ways that AI augments their writing and critical thinking without replacing it. I will collaborate with CITL staff to envision ways students can utilize prompt engineering through Gemini and other emerging tools. As the WRT 003 instructor, I hope to show students how to apply this process to concrete writing examples, such as providing background information in the essay introduction and how to revise a thesis statement. I also envision both CITL staff and the WRT 003 instructor modeling ways they use AI in their professional and academic writing.
Collaborators: Justin Greenlee, Chris Harvey
