Title: Rethinking Classroom Engagement: Adapting BQ Seminar in the Age of AI
College/Department: College of Arts & Sciences, Sociology & Anthropology
Student Enrollment: 20
Course: Soc 090/LAS 090 - BQ Seminar: Are all utopias gone in the 21st century?
Proposal: The new course, "BQ Seminar: Are all utopias gone in the 21st century?" (Soc 090, LAS 090), seeks to establish a revised pedagogical framework for fostering student engagement. With the rise of AI rendering previous instructional methods for encouraging reading, writing, and classroom participation ineffective, the project aims to develop a modern, robust iteration of these engagement strategies. By partnering with OEIA/CITL/ITS, the course will leverage Problem and Project-based Learning to ensure student accountability and active involvement in the 21st-century academic environment.
